Job Description:

Harrison Truck Centers is seeking a Service Technician. We are a full-service, Freightliner/Western Star dealership group with operations across Iowa and Minnesota offering new and used truck sales and leasing, parts, and service as well as a specialized Glider Kit manufacturing facility. The Service Technician performs quality repairs and maintenance on vehicles while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. The responsibilities and core functions are as follows:

  • Receive repair orders from shop foreman and or service advisor and take to stall area
  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
  • Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer
  • Examine the vehicle to determine if additional service work is required
  • Notify service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised
  • Document work performed legibly and accurately.
  • Road-test vehicles when required, while being conscious of keeping the customer’s vehicle clean.
  • Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
  • General mechanical skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Diesel truck experience preferred but not required
  • Valid driver’s license with a minimum of a class B CDL or ability to obtain CDL along with a clean driving record preferred but not required
  • Manual dexterity.
